Touda only dreams of one thing: to be a sheikha, a traditional Moroccan artist, empowered by songs about resistance, love and emancipation. Every evening she performs in the bars of the province under the lustful gaze of men, but all she really wants is to get out of the province and into the light-flooded city of Casablanca, where she hopes for a better future for herself and her son.
