We follow Sérgio, a Portuguese researcher who travels to Guinea-Bissau on behalf of a development organization. What begins as a sober field study soon catapults him into a web of desire, power, and memory. Pinho recounts this as a hypnotic experience: with long shots that give equal prominence to bodies and landscape, with a camera that loses itself in the movements of the characters.
