The Black community is not monolithic – so why should its cinema be? The Black Gaze gathers seven films that, rather than making Black life the object of a gaze, decide where to look for themselves. Between pain and joy, memory and future, these works do not concern themselves with presenting a homogenous Black experience, but instead show a multitude of perspectives, voices and forms of resistance.
