Berlin video store owner Micha Hartung (Charly Hübner) is on the verge of bankruptcy. But out of nowhere, he unwittingly becomes a hero to all of Germany: when a journalist stylises him as the mastermind behind the largest mass escape from the GDR on the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, his life is suddenly turned upside down. As an unwitting impostor, Micha becomes entangled in a web of half-truths and outright lies.
