Star-crossed lovers caught between oppressive structures and a class struggle rooted in solidarity. A greenhouse in southern Spain with precarious working conditions: Foreman Iván falls in love with seasonal worker Hadoum. A precarious construct of class-based power hierarchies forces Iván to ask himself: With whom does he stand in solidarity, and where does their passionate connection find its place?

IVÁN & HADOUM explores, in a quiet and organic way, the complex interplay of identity, power, and othering, while simultaneously losing itself in passionate togetherness. The Spanish-German-Belgian co-production received the Teddy Award for Best Feature Film at this year’s Berlinale. We are screening the film in cooperation with the Queer Film Festival Munich as part of MonGay.
