The mass murder in the concentration camps of the Nazi regime took place with the support of thousands of accomplices. For a long time, the German justice system was unable to do justice to this historical fact. At the Auschwitz Trials in Frankfurt in 1963, Attorney General Fritz Bauer brought those accused of aiding and abetting murder before a German court for the first time. But even then there was no flood of trials: the prosecution of Nazi criminals actually decreased. Some 60 years later, Fritz Bauer's legacy is now being applied.
Editor's note
Special event with the Bavarian Minister of State for Justice, Georg Eisenreich, CSU, the director Sabine Lamby and the lawyer Christoph Rückel.
