In 2026, Bayreuth will be the site of a major anniversary: the Festival will celebrate its 150th anniversary. An occasion that will also make history in terms of its program. On July 26, 2026, Richard Wagner’s operatic triumph RIENZI will be performed for the very first time—and exclusively during the anniversary year of 2026—on the stage of the Bayreuth Festival Theatre, with a delayed broadcast to cinemas. The new production by Alexandra Szemerédy and Magdolna Parditka is under the musical direction of Nathalie Stutzmann. A celebration for all Wagner lovers—right there in the theater, with no waiting list.

The cinema broadcast will air with a two-hour delay relative to the performance at the Festspielhaus and will include two half-hour intermissions, during which a cinema-exclusive accompanying program (approx. 10 min. at the end of each intermission) will be shown.
