Berlin – the westernmost city in the East and the easternmost city in the West – was the first stop in the West for many Russians: a refuge for displaced persons, a place for outsiders. The film shows people in Berlin in the early 1990s, marked by upheaval and old scars. It tells of coming, staying, leaving – and asks the question: how does a war end when its traces live on in everyday life?
