Maria Callas is undisputedly one of the greatest divas in opera history. In MARIA, director Pablo Larraín tells the story of the singer through her own eyes as she relives her tragic life shortly before her death. We are showing the biopic with Oscar winner Angelina Jolie in the leading role as part of a BR Klassik preview including a thematic introduction.

About

Paris, September 1977: Maria Callas (Angelina Jolie) has withdrawn from the public eye for years. The legendary opera diva no longer stands on stage and instead lives alone in her huge apartment, behind heavy curtains, in a world full of memories. When the TV reporter Mandrax appears, Maria finds new hope as the interviews with the young man take her back to her legendary years. She decides to return to the stage one last time.
